Gallery and practical shooting

Very popular part of our sport – shooting safely at speed with accuracy.

With the upgrade of the backstop on our main multi-purpose range completed in March 2025 we have been able to introduce much anticipated practical shooting sports to WRPC.

Mini Rifle is a dynamic sport where competitors engage multiple targets from different positions, against the clock and also scored for accuracy.

We have club leagues and also have teams competing in the UKPSA postal leagues with mini-rifle matches taking place on the first Sunday of every month plus other dates for practice when we can arrange them. It’s very friendly competion but it does get serious very quickly. “I’m just taking part for a laugh” at the start, within five minutes “Aaaaargh I mangled that course of fire, my poor score!” 🙂

Huge fun, the cost of competing is very low and not having a suitable gun isn’t a barrier as the club has a decent rifle for members to use – just pay for the ammo.

Many types of rifle will be in use, the only requirement is for it to be a semi-automatic in .22lr calibre and to have at least two magazines with a combined capacity of 40 rounds or so. This is one discipline where you can be as serious or casual as you like with your firearms choice. You’ll see every type of semi-automatic in use from cheap fun guns to serious competition rifles. Being a member of WRPC does allow you to use other member’s guns and it’s common for members to try out each other’s setup.

The courses of fire may also be shot with a semi automatic pistol, a revolver or a cowboy style lever gun.

You may load and make ready!

To ensure safety we have a proper induction for new shooters prior to every match, our instructors are all qualified RCO’s and have competed in mini-rifle for over a decade.

Shooter ready … STAND BY … BEEP!

With monthly competition and regular practice sessions we can help train you from casual to serious competition grade. Or if you just want to take part and have fun, that’s OK too.

Also a dynamic shooting discipline is the art of Gallery Rifle.

These courses of fire do not involve movement but are against the clock and scored for accuracy. With our new turning target system about to come into operation this will allow whole new courses of fire. Watch this space, coming soon …
